Water Memory, Land Memory Sky Memory and Frozen Time I began this series of photographs about memory in 2004. They were produced in the aftermath of grief stemming from the death of my parents combined with the hope generated with the birth of babies into my family. These images were made in the process of understanding and representing these universal human experiences. I work with images of sky, land, water, death, and new life. I use memory as a symbol for our physical bodies and the earth being connected in a cycle of regeneration. Through my work, I explore the experiences common to all people: life, death, grief and hope. I challenge myself to find visual expression for the unseen and to put the unknowable on view. |
